On Friday, August 9th, 2024, we hosted our very first Annual Charity Ball, and it was a roaring success!
The evening started with guests being warmly welcomed by our founder, Barri and Ross from Worcester Sands United, as they were welcomed with a glass of fizz. The venue was decked out to perfection, setting the stage for what would be a night to remember.
The wonderful Got2Sing Choir filled the room with their beautiful voices as guests mingled, sipping on glasses of fizz and enjoying tasty canapés. The weather couldn’t have been better, and many took advantage of the beautiful outdoor area, where garden games were set up, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a sundowner.
We were honoured to have some special guests in attendance, including representatives from our co-sponsors, Worcester Sands FC, as well as the Mayor of Worcester, the team from Stonemasons of Worcester, and Little Lodge Nursery.
The atmosphere was lively, especially at the photobooth, where guests had a blast dressing up in fancy dress outfits. The chicken costumes were an unexpected hit and even made appearances on the dancefloor later in the night!
One of the highlights of the evening was the cash grabber machine, where guests had the chance to win some fantastic cash prizes.
As the evening progressed, everyone took their seats at tables which had been named after children whose families have been supported by the charity. Each guest was gifted with a selection of treats, including a Stevie Stones pin badge—a little token to take away wear with pride.
Dinner was served, and the wine flowed as guests enjoyed delicious food and fabulous company. Table games like heads and tails bingo added to the fun, and raffle tickets sold like hotcakes.
The live auction was a huge success, with incredible items up for grabs, such as a Wing Walk Experience, signed sports memorabilia from Manchester United, Liverpool FC, and the All Blacks, and even a luxury break to a French chateau!
For those who preferred a more low-key approach, a mystery silent auction ran throughout the evening, offering something for everyone.
Special awards were presented, celebrating the amazing contributions of Helen, our outstanding fundraiser, Vivek from Little Lodge Nursery, for team fundraiser and Zoe from Stonemasons of Worcester, who has been a constant source of support for the charity. Our founders Barri and Naomi were also honoured by Ross from Sands United, for the incredible work that they continue to do to support families across the country.
