The day after Stevie died was a really strange day; we woke up to a world where our worst nightmare had become a reality. The sense of dread and hopelessness upon opening my eyes after a restless sleep is something I will never forget. The days that followed were a blur of grief and duty. Despite our overwhelming sorrow, we had to focus on organizing Stevie’s final farewell. Our first step was visiting Worcester Funeral Service to arrange the burial and choose a resting place for Stevie. Although these conversations were incredibly difficult, they provided a small sense of purpose in our new, painful reality.
Next, we visited the Stonemasons of Worcester to explore headstone options. For most parents, this is an unthinkable task. The idea of memorialising a child is profoundly distressing, driving home the heartbreaking finality that Stevie was gone. All we could do now was create a lasting tribute to her brief but impactful life.

Simply put, this experience changed our entire perspective. We had the opportunity to sit down and talk about Stevie, sharing the essence of who she was. Zoe listened patiently and worked with us to craft ideas until we found the perfect headstone. This process didn’t just help us create a memorial; it helped us begin to heal. Collaborating with Zoe was a pivotal moment for our family and the formation of our charity.
