At Stevie Stones, our mission is simple: no child forgotten.
We exist to help bereaved parents and legal guardians create a lasting memorial for their child – without the added burden of financial worry. We know that reaching out for help can be difficult, so we’ve made our process as simple, respectful, and supportive as possible.
Here’s how we work:
What We Fund
We provide funding toward:
- Children’s headstones
- Urns
- Other appropriate memorial costs
- Every grant we award must further our charitable objective of helping families honour their child’s memory in a way that feels right for them.
Who We Support
We can offer grants to parents and legal guardians within the UK, of children up to age 18, in demonstrable financial need.
Families who have experienced a loss between 37 weeks’ gestation and 1 year, holding a stillbirth or birth certificate, will be individually reviewed case-by-case by the board of Trustees once per quarter.
We cannot fund charities, community groups, political activities or projects outside of our charitable purpose.
If you’re unsure whether you are eligible, please contact us – we will always speak to you with warmth and understanding.
How to Apply for Support
Our application process is designed to be gentle and clear. Our waiting list is extensive, so sadly, there is likely to be a ‘waiting period’, however when funding becomes available, we invite families to complete a short written application.
You will be asked to provide:
- A small description of what you need
- Details of your chosen or recommended stonemason
- Documentation proving your right to erect a memorial
- Quotes or costs for the work
Once invited to proceed, you will have six weeks to gather quotes and maintain contact with us. If we do not hear from you during this time, your eligibility may lapse – but we are always happy to help you reapply.
How We Assess Applications
Every application is carefully reviewed by our Trustees.
We look at:
- Eligibility
- Financial need
- Alignment with our charitable objectives
- Any risks or safeguarding considerations
This ensures that every grant is awarded responsibly, transparently, and with the highest level of care.
How We Pay Grants
To protect families and ensure funds are used appropriately, all grants are paid directly to the stonemason, not to individuals.
Payments may be made in installments and may include specific conditions (such as receipts or updates).
This means:
- You are never left out of pocket
- Your memorial is created safely
- Your funds are protected throughout the process
Monitoring & Transparency
We take our responsibility to families and donors very seriously. That’s why we keep full records of:
- Applications
- Decisions
- Payments
- Reports from stonemasons and families
All grants are reported annually in line with charity law and best practice.
